Emmaus Conversations 1

I have titled these entries Emmaus Conversations, a title based on the wonderful story found in Luke 24. Two disciples walk along and kick ideas around in conversation. I want to just kick around some ideas with you. I want to plant seeds. I want to provoke reflection and, I hope, conversation.

I also hope to be pithy. I think about things, and I want to share my thoughts with you. I stand to be corrected. I don’t want to be right. I want to know the truth. And to that end—knowing the truth—we engage in conversations which have a higher and more noble purpose than debates.

I hope that you will come along with me to think and to talk. In our common endeavor, Jesus—the Way, the Truth, and the Life—walks beside us.

And as the Emmaus disciples said one to the other: “Were our hearts on fire as He was speaking to us on the road and opening to us the scriptures?”
